From the moment we arrived, this place felt like a discovery. Amy from the gift shop met us at the entrance and personally pointed us in the right direction on the map. That kind of welcome sets the tone for everything that follows. We spent a little over a mile exploring the ravines, cathedral, bamboo, and pond walks, crossing several footbridges and finding a couple of tucked-away benches where we just sat and let the atmosphere settle in. The forest trail along the edge of the property was a highlight β wildflowers everywhere, and boxed honeybee hives tucked among the blooms doing their quiet work. That stretch along the open meadow carried its own kind of beauty, unhurried and easy to get lost in. A recent hurricane took out several trees, and you can see where replanting has begun. That kind of resilience mirrors the arboretum's purpose β a living, learning landscape that keeps returning. Admission is free and it's open to the public, which makes it all the more remarkable that a place this thoughtfully maintained exists just off Highland Road. Whether you're a nature lover, a photographer, or just someone who needs a few unhurried hours away from the noise, the Hilltop Arbore

I'm amazed that this little gem of southern nature trails, woods, ravines, remains open to the public, free of charge every day from dusk to dawn in Baton Rouge. S maller than rural life museum, but easier to access and enjoy, at least in my opinion. cute gift shop, easy for toddlers and the littles to navigate.

I was surprised that this incredibly beautiful park does not charge an entrance fee. At the entrance, we were greeted by a very polite and pleasant woman who gave us a map of the park. Please note that to walk through the entire park, you will need at least an hour. What truly impresses is the scale of the park and the amount of work done by the people who take care of it. Everything is very beautiful, with stunning landscape design. I was especially impressed by the beautiful pond, as well as a small fountain with thin, delicate streams of water. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to spend time in peace, surrounded by beautiful nature.

I performed for a friend's daughter's wedding and had never visited the arboretum before this date. The grounds were impressive and the facilities were fine and neatly kept. There is ample parking and this park is very scenic and serene. There is a paved trail and a pond which adds to the tranquil atmosphere. Of course, I was unable to fully enjoy the park because I was there to perform wedding music. The majestic trees in this elevated area provided a great backdrop for music and enjoyment of the company of the attendees. I marked this as a place to visit for a nice nature walk in the near future as a consequence of experiencing it for the purpose of providing wedding music.

Very green and relaxing place. It is open from dawn till dusk, and the office/gift shop is only open normal hours (like a 9-5). There are turtles in the pond, if you go up to the deck and look over, that will come to you. There are a bunch of interesting trees and a few flowers. Itβs very earthy and smells fresh. There are multiple paths in, and not a hard closing time, so if you are concerned just park outside the gate. There are bees in the far back past the hill near magnolia trees, and lots of insects and birds. Check the office when you go, as this place is a venue for people to use and could be closed. Overall, very relaxing.
